Sor Juana Ines De la Cruz was a woman in a time that did not allow women to use their minds, she rebelled and learnt in secret and was later known throughout Mexico for her intelligence and beauty. Having entered a convent, she was able to learn and flourish up to her untimely death from the plague at 44.
